Dear Members and Friends,

Welcome to the 2010 season at the Androscoggin Yacht Club! Thank you to everyone who made the four days of events celebrating the 100-Year Anniversary of the AYC such a success last year.  We now embark on our 101st season with a number of fun and exciting programs and events for the whole family.  See you at the lake!

Summer activities at the Club include the following:

Clean-up Day and Dock Launch - Saturday, May 15, 2010. We will need help launching docks and cleaning the Club and grounds, beginning at 8:00 am.  Refreshments will be provided.

June Membership Meeting. The June membership meeting will be held on Saturday, June 19.  The social hour will begin at 5:00 pm, with the potluck supper at 6:00 pm and the membership meeting at 7:00 pm. We will be voting on new members at this meeting.  A quorum of the membership is needed to hold this meeting so please mark your calendars!

Swim Program. Each child can register for any or all of the three, 2-week sessions of swim lessons, which begin July 5, July 19, and August 2.  For beginners and advanced beginners, lessons will be one-half hour in length per day for a total of 5 hours per session.  For intermediate and above, lessons will be 45 minutes per day for a total of 7.5 hours.  Amanda Black will be returning as swim instructor.  Please return your registration forms prior to the due dates shown on the attached calendar for scheduling.


Sailing. The Club will be offering sailing lessons this year and we are pleased that Dan Fayan has been hired as sailing instructor.  There will be two sessions offered, the first beginning July 5, and the second beginning July 26.  Dan can be reached at 897-2654 in the summer should you have any questions about the program.  Please return your registration forms prior to the due dates shown on the attached calendar for scheduling.

 

Caretaker. Ryan Martin will be returning as caretaker this summer.  Ryan will be tackling a number of Clunhouse projects this summer.

 

Café Night. Back by popular demand, the Club will host another Café night on Saturday, June26th, doors open at 6 pm and music begins at 7 pm.  Please join us for an evening of music, socializing and delicious desserts in a café-like atmosphere, coordinated by Cathy Burnham.  Musicians are Jeff Noel and Darrell Briggs.

 

Dance. There will be a dance happening on Saturday, July 10th, coordinated by Debbie Emery.  Appetizers and cocktails beginning at 7pm, dancing from 8 - 11 pm.

Fundraising Supper. This will be held on Saturday, July 24th at 6 pm.  Come out for a great meal and wonderful company.

 

Family Picnic Night. On Thursday evenings, July 15, July 22 and July 29 we will be hosting family picnic night.  Tables will be set up and the grill will be lit and ready to go by 5 pm.  Bring your family, picnic dinner and have a great evening at the Club.

 

Regatta. The annual regatta will be held on Sunday, August 8th beginning at 1 pm (boats should be ready by 12:30 pm), coordinated by Hazel and David Stevenson.


Annual Meeting. The Club’s annual business meeting will be held on Saturday, August 14 at 7:00 pm.   There will be a social time beginning at 5:30 pm and a potluck supper at 6:00 pm.  A quorum of the membership is needed to hold this meeting so please mark your calendars!

Membership Fees. Membership dues for the 2010 season have been held at previous years’ rates: $95 for a family and $55 for individuals.  The membership options are described on the membership application form.  Please call an AYC Officer for further information.

Moorings. Joel Ellis will coordinate moorings again this year.  Members with questions about new or existing moorings should so indicate on the membership form and contact Joel at 212-0109.

Rentals. Members wishing to rent the Club should consult the attached 2010 AYC Calendar and contact Jane Andrews (685-3754) for further information.  Rental fees are as follows:

50 or fewer in attendance:
New member, $200.00   -   Established members, $175.00
More than 50 in attendance:
New member, $375.00   -   Established members, $200.00
Wedding events (rehearsal dinners, reception, etc.): $375.00

A deposit of an additional $100.00 is required and will be returned if the renter complies with the terms of the rental and the Club is left in satisfactory condition. There is an optional clean-up fee of $60.00.  

AYC Capital Campaign, Preserving Club Facilities for the Next Generation. The Club’s Capital Reserve Fund has been incorporated in the By-laws and is dedicated to meeting the future capital needs of the Club.  Please consider making a contribution.  Along with volunteer service, a Capital Reserve Fund contribution is an important way you can help to secure the current and future health of the Club.  A space to note your contribution can be found on the attached payment form.   

Even as we celebrate 100 years, we have also taken a step here into the 21st century with our new web site: www.aycwayne.org.  Please take time to check it out and give us your feedback.  All registration forms can be found there and soon you can even make payment on-line!
